Fall usually begins with lower temperatures, the trees giving up their leaves, and migrating birds.
While all of these things are going to happen, Linton welcomed the season with a festival on Vincennes Street, spanning from the Carnegie building all the way into downtown Linton.
Whether it was a bounce house, a food truck, school clubs, face painting, pastries, raffle tickets, or clothing selling, dozens of vendors took to the street. A variety of activities and products were provided, creating a family-friendly environment for Linton and surrounding areas.
This was the Fall Arts Festival.
Opinions and suggestions around the Festival differed.
One person said, “This festival does a good job of uniting one portion of the community. People staying at home kills turnout to these events. While I like the diverse representation of Linton, it’s still only through the eyes of our active residents. There seems to be good turnout, though.”
Another also said, “The variety of the festival, the size of it, and the turnout was hindered by many other events happening on the same weekend, such as Sandborn’s Fall Festival.”
Shauna from Shauna’s Simple Bakes, a vendor at the Festival, said, “I got to see both old and new faces, and I liked how it was set up the way it was, despite having multiple festivities close to each other.”
Finally, Tiffany Todd and Katie Graves, who were both involved in organizing the Fall Arts Festival, both agreed that the Fall Festival was a success with steady turnout.
Overall, this festival provided a wide variety of activities, performances, and vendors, but most importantly, it provided enough turnout to show how many in Linton and its surrounding areas are genuinely active.
As the festival closed, I personally felt respect for this community. While you can’t make everyone in Linton turn out (although that would be amazing!), we can still conclude summer.
And we will welcome fall.
