LINTON, IN—I was at the Wendy’s drive-thru window as I looked across Highway 54 at Jiffy Treet. I have been through the drive-thru several times and have looked across the street every single time, while waiting on my food.
But this time, I never thought I would see a person riding a bike in a banana costume on a random Thursday.
Coming from the west side of the sidewalk between the ice cream restaurant and the highway, the “Banana Man” rode his blue and black bike as he turned into Jiffy Treet’s parking lot. Then, he traveled across Vincennes Street, turned back around, and exited the way he came.
It was evident that I had to learn more.
Upon further inspection, the “Banana Man” has recently become a frequent topic of conversation. Allegedly, he has been seen on numerous previous occasions simply riding his blue and black bike around Linton. Some people have also created AI-assisted posts on platforms such as Facebook surrounding the matter, referring to him as the “Hometown Hero” of sorts.
“I think he seems cool, but I don’t like the amount of artificial intelligence that people are using to promote him,” a Linton resident said. “I think the idea of a funny hometown hero is cool and exciting, but I don’t think that people on Facebook should be using him and creating AI-generated images. I’d prefer if you use Photoshop or a platform like that.”
Regardless of social media posts on the matter, the identity of the “Banana Man” remains unknown.
In conclusion, while Linton may not have a problem, it certainly has a banana.
