Indiana State Trooper Injured After Being Struck Along US 41 in Knox Co

From the Indiana State Police – Evansville District:

On June 16, 2026, at approximately 6:13 p.m., Master Trooper Brett Pool was on US 41 near Decker when he and his fully marked Indiana State Police Commission were struck by a northbound SUV.

The vehicle was being driven by Anna Elkins, 33, of Vincennes. At the time of the crash, Trooper Pool was standing outside of his patrol vehicle. Elkins did not report any injuries as a result of the crash.

Trooper Pool was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing, and no criminal charges have been filed. Elkins was cited for Unsafe Lane Movement.

The Indiana State Police would like to remind motorists to remain alert, avoid distractions, and use caution when approaching emergency vehicles and other roadside hazards. Drivers should slow down and move over whenever possible to help ensure the safety of first responders and all individuals working along Indiana roadways.
