Indiana motorists will continue receiving relief from state gasoline taxes after Governor Mike Braun signed executive orders Wednesday, November 4, extending the suspension through December 4, 2026.
The suspension covers Indiana’s gasoline excise tax and gasoline use tax, representing a combined 64 cents per gallon in November. The taxes have already been suspended for several months, meaning the extension maintains existing relief rather than introducing a new reduction at the pump.
The governor also extended exemptions allowing farmers and timber harvesters to use untaxed dyed diesel fuel in qualifying transportation activities, providing additional relief to Indiana’s agricultural and timber industries.
The temporary suspensions reduce state fuel tax revenue ordinarily used to support roads and infrastructure. State officials have indicated that the current extension may be the last before the Indiana General Assembly reconvenes in January.
Unless another emergency declaration is issued, the suspensions are scheduled to expire December 4.
