Ovie McClure, 86, of Spencer, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 1, 2021 at McCormick’s Creek Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Spencer. He was born in Mount Vernon, Kentucky on January 3, 1934 to Milton and Bertha (Sweeney) McClure.
Ovie retired from Miller Construction Co. as a lineman and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers “IBEW”. He loved mushroom hunting, collecting antiques and enjoyed walking outdoors and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Ovie is survived by his daughter, Patricia Smith (Warren); son Ovie “Butch” McClure; brother, Alvin McClure (Teddy); two granddaughters, Chastity Smith Westfall (Jim) and Shelby LouAnn Wall (Cameron); and three great grandchildren, Olivia Westfall, Nash Allan Lane and Lex Robert Wall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Florence McClure, grandson Dewayne Smith, three brothers Elza McClure, Emmett McClure and William McClure, and two sisters Rosie McClure and Ida May McClure.
A private family service will be held. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, IN.
