Our sweet mother and grandmother, Jo Ann Cantwell, passed from this life to glory on December 30, 2020 at the age of 94.
Born in Owen County, Indiana to Ina and Glen Minnick on July 11, 1926, Jo grew up on the family farm in Quincy as one of five children including Danny, Velma, Jayne and Donna, and also stepfather Rev. William June Evans.
Jo graduated from Quincy High School, married Richard Cantwell soon after and was a homemaker and mother to Michael Cantwell and Tamra (Cantwell) Reno. Jo was a great cook and crafter and loved time with her family. She enjoyed bowling (Monon Team), horseshoes, croquet, badminton, table games or just getting together for family meals. She also enjoyed watching sports, in particular IU Basketball, the Indiana Pacers, the Cincinnati Reds, and Nascar with her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon (#24). Though a wonderful housekeeper Jo also stayed busy outside working in the yard and tending her roses.
Jo had a 24 year career at Indiana Bell Telephone as an engineering clerk and enjoyed her work and friends. A faithful Christian, Jo was active in church and was a children’s Sunday School teacher. She loved playing the piano, singing, and collecting teddy bears.
Jo is survived by her sister, Donna Evans McCarter, son Michael (Linda) Cantwell and daughter Tamra (Richard) Reno; grandchildren James (Christine) Cantwell, Debbie (Devin) Combs, Sarah (Robert) Wilkinson, Samuel Reno and William Reno; great grandchildren, Josh Combs, Jackie Combs (Jake Krebbs), Raegan Cantwell and Lorelai Wilkinson; great-great grandchildren Karson Krebbs, Allison Wilcoxen, Aubrey Wilcoxen, Jaxson Krebbs; and half-brother Max Minnick. Jo was greatly loved and will be extremely missed by her family and friends. The family is grateful to the staff of Creasy Springs Legacy Campus for their kind and excellent care for her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ina and Glen Minnick and stepfather, Rev. William June Evans, brother Danny Minnick, sister, Velma Minnick Rollings, Jayne Minnick Coffman and great grandson, Evan Cantwell.
