Kimberly “Kim” Shane Bernitt, age 55, of Ellettsville, passed away peacefully at 3:10 pm on Monday, October 12, 2020, at her mother’s home. She was born in Bloomington, IN on June 10, 1965, the daughter of Herman III & Lola (Honeycutt) Bernitt.
She worked as a home health care nurse for several years and then she worked as a foreman for a construction company as well. She was a big fan of the Indianapolis Colts and the Indy 500 Race. She loved spending time with her family and was a dog lover. Kim’s favorite thing to do was antique shopping and decorating, she was always looking for that special piece.
She is survived by her son, Christopher Bixler; grandson, Eli Bixler; mother, Lola Bernitt; sister, Tonya Bernitt; brothers, Bud Bernitt and William Bernitt; nieces and nephews, Luke, Hannah, Bahia, Bonnie, Nicholas, Matthew, Amanda and Elijah as well as several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Bernitt and two nephews, Daniel and Seth.
Private services will be observed by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christopher and Eli. Contributions may be sent to the funeral home and they will get them to the family.
