Calvin R. Bechtel, 92, of Odon, Indiana, went to Heaven, on Monday, October 12, 2020, at Ketcham Memorial Center. He was born on December 24, 1927 in Elnora, Indiana to Elmer and Nora (Martin) Bechtel. Calvin married Bonnie R. (Laughlin) Bechtel on March 13, 1954.
Calvin was a US Army veteran and a member of the Odon First Christian Church. He was a mechanic at John Deere, a farmer and worked at Crane.
Left to cherish the memories of Calvin are one daughter, Lisa (Wayne) Groves of Odon.
Calvin was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Bonnie Bechtel; brothers, Herman, Fred, George, Raymond and Harry Bechtel; sisters, Ruth Poindexter, Esther Thompson and Grace Bechtel.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Richard Crabtree officiating. Calvin will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon following military graveside rites presented by the Odon VFW Post #9627 and Odon American Legion Post #293.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Ketcham Memorial Center, 601 E. Race St., Odon, IN 47562. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Following CDC guidelines, face masks will be required and continue with social distancing please.
