Jerry Dean Deckard, 75, of Bowling Green passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Bloomington, Indiana on December 27, 1944 to Vernon and Pauline (Stephens) Deckard.
Jerry married Sherry Freeman on July 16, 1965. He worked in construction all of his life, but loved farming and raising cattle. He was a member of the New Creation Church in Terre Haute. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother who will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, and love for his family. He will be greatly missed.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sherry Deckard of Bowling Green, IN; four children, Tammy Lynn Wimer (Mike) of Milwaukee, WI, Tina Rae Heffner (Marlon) of Center Point, IN, Tonya Lea Franklin (Chad) of Macomb, MI and Rusty Buck Deckard (Cory) of Terre Haute, IN; seven siblings, Carolyn Graham (Walter), Pati Bruce, Beverly Greenwood (Charles), Bill (Virginia) Deckard, Janice Grooms (Anver), Brenda Watkins (Steve) and Roger Deckard (Sungwate); nine grandchildren, Josh Wimer, Jake Wimer, Orry Heffner, Quinton Heffner (Nicole), Nicky Franklin, Chandler Franklin, Kaleb Deckard, Kody Deckard and Kendra Deckard; two great grandchildren, Reese Heffner and Cole Heffner; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Sharon Deckard.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer with Rusty Deckard officiating.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM Wednesday until the time of service at the funeral home.
