James Query

James “Jim” Earl Query, age 74, of Spencer, passed away on  Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington. He was born in Cataract, Indiana on January 14, 1946 to  Kenneth and Helen (Owens) Query.

Jim was a graduate of Spencer High School and received a Master’s degree from Indiana University. He married Charlotte Fiscus on June 7, 1970. Jim served in the United States Army and retired as Lieutenant Colonel after 28 years in Intelligence. He also worked as a Spanish Teacher at the Owen Valley High School for 36 years. Jim was a member of the Owen Valley Christian Fellowship Church, Spencer Lion’s Club and the American Legion in Indianapolis. He was a Director for several years with the Weekday Religious Education program in Owen County and helped with the Summer Food Service Program for 17 years. He loved reading and watching family videos. Jim also enjoyed playing Santa for over 40 years in Owen County.

James is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Query; daughter, Heather Keith (Dave); son, Jim Query all of Spencer; four grandchildren, Christopher Erb (Alyssa), Hannah Whiteman (Caleb), Meagan Bean (Robbie) and Heather L. Keith; and one great granddaughter, Annabelle Erb.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Grandi officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Owen County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm Monday and on Tuesday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
