Members of St. Peter’s Catholic Church gathered Sunday to celebrate a significant milestone in the parish’s history, commemorating 125 years of faith, fellowship, and service in the Linton community.

The anniversary celebration began with the dedication of a newly constructed Marian shrine on the church grounds. The masonry feature, built of stone and centered around a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was blessed during a special ceremony attended by parishioners and clergy from the Evansville Diocese. The shrine now stands as a permanent place for prayer, reflection, and devotion.

Following the dedication, parishioners continued the celebration of St. Peter’s 125th anniversary, reflecting on the generations of families who have worshiped, celebrated sacraments, and built a lasting faith community since the parish’s founding.
The new shrine serves not only as a tribute to the Blessed Mother but also as a visible reminder of the parish’s enduring presence in Linton. As St. Peter’s enters its next chapter, church leaders expressed gratitude for the many parishioners, past and present, whose dedication has sustained the congregation through more than a century of growth and change.
The anniversary celebration brought together members of the parish community — young and old —to honor the church’s history while looking forward to its future.

For 125 years, St. Peter’s has been a place where faith has been passed from one generation to the next. Today’s celebration honored that legacy while dedicating a new space that will invite prayer and reflection for years to come.
