Linton Police Issue Statement on Off-Duty Incident Involving Detective Hobbs

The Linton Police Department has released a statement regarding an off-duty incident that resulted in the arrest of one of its own officers on New Year’s Eve.

According to the department’s press release, on December 31, 2025, at approximately 6:25 p.m., Linton PD received a call from a citizen reporting that an off-duty police officer was in the Taco Bell drive-thru while operating a marked police vehicle. The caller reported that the officer appeared to be impaired or intoxicated.

Chief of Police Paul Clark responded to the scene within minutes. After assessing the situation and the information provided, it was determined that an outside, impartial agency should handle the investigation.

Indiana State Police then responded and continued the investigation, which ultimately resulted in the arrest of Linton Police Detective Logan Elliott Hobbs, age 34, on a preliminary charge of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated.

The department stated that Detective Hobbs has been placed on administrative leave effective immediately.

The release notes that any further inquiries about the criminal investigation should be directed to the Indiana State Police. The department also emphasized that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
