Robert T. Meier, age 78, of Switz City, passed away peacefully at 2:32 am on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born in Vincennes, on April 16, 1942, the son of Henry Vernon Meier & Helena (Catt) Meier.
Bob was a 1961 graduate of L & M High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He later joined the Army National Guard and retired after serving for over thirty-three years.
Bob worked on his family farm for many years, and also helped others on their farms, mainly with Tom & Gail Bredeweg Farm. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, working on mowers, cook books and old books, yard sales, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Robert was a member of the Linton Assembly of God and was a Master Gardener.
He is survived by his wife whom he married on June 19, 1971, Regina Kaye (Walton) Meier of Switz City, three daughters, Cathy (Fred) Meek of Linton, Julie Ann (Bryan) Ketchem of Linton, and Amanda (Ronnie) Copeland of Odon, one son, David R. (Amy) Meier of Spencer, grandchildren, Fred Meek, MaKayla Ketchem, Matthew Ketchem, Ian Frank, Victor Copeland, Lilly Copeland, one great-granddaughter, Charley BryAnne Hall, a brother, Jack Meier of St. Petersburg, FL, and a brother-in-law, Danny Walton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robbie Meier, two granddaughters, Kaitlyn Bryann Ketchem and Ruth Marie Meier, and an infant sister, Marcella.
Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carlisle with military honors provided by the Sullivan County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Per State of Indiana requirements, mask must be worn, social distancing will be practiced and only fifty (50) people will be allowed in the facility at any one time.
