Joseph C. Jelase, 91, of Freedom, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at his residence. Joseph was born on November 12, 1929, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Frank Jelase and Lucille (Sferruzze) Jelase. Joseph married the love of his life, Freda (Hylton) Jelase on May 7, 1955 and together they raised five lovely girls. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy and belonged to the American Legion. Joseph worked 22 years at Spicer-Gierke Jewelry Mfg. Co., 20 years as a self employed Trophy and Engraving Business, 2 years at the McCormicks Creek State Park and 6 years at Grand Teton National Park(with his wife).
Joseph is survived by his wife, sister, Rosina (Joe) Reese, daughters, Catherine (Steve) Palmore, Donna (Dana) Sipes, Ann (Les) Wicker, Linda (Jim) Centers, Ellen (Dallas) Kimmel, grandchildren, Stacy (Adam) Franks, Clint (Chandra) Palmore, Joshua (Sandy) Sipes, Amber (Nick) Sweet, Tyler (Sofia) Wicker, Kasey (John) Gaines, Nichole (James) Taylor, Natalie (Tim) Meadows, Jimmie (Jennifer) Centers, Ryan Kimmel, Emily (Lance) Scott, great-grandchildren, Emily, Alexis, Samuel, Clayton, Drew, Nathan, Colton, Ethan, Cameron, Chase, Chloe, Harrison, Oliver, Benjamin, one angel on the way, Lily, Temperance, James Jr., Jaxson, Elias, Dakota, Levi, Maddie, Paisleigh, Vada, Mallory.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Marianne Fisher, one nephew, Stephen Grisso.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, December 20, 2020 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 North Montgomery Street, Spencer, with Pastor Drew Baker officiating.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM until the time of service on Sunday.
Due to Indiana State Guidelines for Covid 19, face mask and social distancing will be required and only twenty-five (25) people will be allowed in the facility at one time.
