Michael A. Matracia, 84, of Spencer, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, December 25, 2020 in his daughter’s home. Michael was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 15, 1936, the son of Gus and Florence (May) Matracia.
Michael was a 1955 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, IN. Michael worked at his family’s fruit and vegetable stand in Indianapolis very early in life, and then became a machinist, an employee of Eli Lilly, and a tool and die maker at General Motors Truck and Bus Plant in Indianapolis, IN for nearly 30 years.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rebecca Marchetti, his wife of 39 years, Jamie, and many aunts and uncles.
Survivors include one brother, Joseph Matracia of Indianapolis; son, Michael (Barbara) Matracia Jr of Indianapolis; son, Tony (Tracee) Matracia of Indianapolis; daughter, Angie (Paul) Wright of Greenwood; step-daughter, Brenda (James) Brown of Fountaintown; step-son, Gregg (Michelle) Chandler of Spencer; daughter, Tommi Sale of Indianapolis; daughter, Dana (Nick) Campbell of Greenfield; and daughter, Teresa (John) Janiszyn of Bellows Falls, VT. Michael was the Uncle of Lisa Marchetti of Indianapolis and Cristina Matracia of San Diego, CA. Michael was the grandfather of nineteen children and five great-grandchildren.
A private service for the family will be held at Hudson Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Owen County YMCA in Spencer, IN.
