John Ingles Laughlin

John Ingles Laughlin 89, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

John was the son of Ingles Rutherford Laughlin and Gladys Elizabeth (Thompson) Laughlin. He served in the U.S. Army, Corp of Engineers during the Korean War as a weapons specialist. After the war he returned home and worked in the construction field.

He established Laughlin Painting in 1962, providing painting services to pioneer developers like Howard Young, Nobel King Buss May and many others until his retirement.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God and remained a devout Christian who loved speaking about the Bible.

He was kind and generous to everyone he met and never knew a stranger. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and those he touched in life.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, James E. Laughlin and Robert L. Laughlin and son, John Ingles Laughlin, Jr. (Jay).

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Betty Jo (Michael) Laughlin; sons, Robert Bryan Laughlin and Mark David Laughlin; Daughter-in-laws, Janet A. (Burhans) Laughlin and Lisa (Stillions) Monroe; his grandchildren, Nicole (Laughlin) Dixon, Rachel Christina (Laughlin) Walcott, Kaela Rose Laughlin and Alexis Nicole Laughlin; great, grandchildren, Ashlyn Nicole Laughlin, Kasyn Dixon, Aiden Dean Walcott and Iain Alexander Walcott.

Due to Covid-19 protocol a private Christian Burial will be held for immediate family only.

Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
