Jack Heuby

Jack LeRoy Heuby, 89, passed away April 30, 2021 at HutsonWood of Brazil where he was a resident. He was born March 24, 1932 in Vincennes, IN to Fred Marion and Audrey Advise Heuby, both deceased.

Jack was a member of Vincennes Lincoln High School class of 1951. He married Sylvia Mae Miller, January 26, 1951, and celebrated 68 years of marriage. They lived in Vincennes for 24 years before relocating to Dugger, IN. Jack is survived by four children: Rhonda Miller (Steve) of Clinton, IN; Dave Heuby (Debbie) of Vincennes; Jeff Heuby (Karen) of Lyons, IN; and Todd Heuby (Kamie) of Dugger, IN. Twelve grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Shelley Baney (Jeremy), Aurora IN; Clint Miller, (Becky), Carmel, IN; Christy Pelzer (Fred), Douglasville, GA; Cody Heuby (Paula), Vincennes; Ian Van Deventer (Nici), Linton, IN; Tyler Van Deventer (Alexis), Lyons, IN; Coy Heuby (Lasey), Odon, IN; Zachery Hale (Sitti), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Isaac Hale (Kindrah), Sullivan, IN; Caleb Hale (Casey), Linton, IN; Wynter Hale (Austin), Jasonville, IN; Shania Hale, Indianapolis, IN, twenty-two great-grandchildren, one great great grandson, and several nieces and nephews also survive him. Jack was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia Mae Heuby, on April 20, 2020. A sister, Yutha Leona Haynes, and two brothers, William Fred Heuby, and Robert Henry Heuby also predeceased Jack.
Jack was a standout cross-country athlete at Lincoln High School. He broke the cross-country Illinois and Indiana state records, SIAC record, and the Vincennes sectional record. He lettered in cross-country, track and basketball. Early in his marriage he worked for the Brown Shoe Company, TA Brouillette and Son, and Wabash Welding Company. He later worked as a welder at the Amax Minnehaha Mine in Dugger IN and retired after 22 years. Jack was a proud member of the United Mineworkers of America for more than 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and children roller-skating at Paradise Roller Rink where he was the floor manager while living in Vincennes. He and Sylvia enjoyed retirement years with camping, fishing, hunting mushrooms, traveling and visiting casinos. Jack also enjoyed woodworking and tinkering around in his garage.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger, IN. The funeral will take place at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Newkirk’s Funeral Home with burial at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes.
