Gilbert Short

Gilbert H. Short, age 76, of Mooresville, formerly of Spencer, passed away peacefully at 1:02 am on Monday, November 30, 2020, at his residence. He was born in Gatesville, Texas on February 23, 1944, the son of Claude & Sara (Brown) Short.

Gilbert was a United States Navy veteran.  He was an established business man and welder. He was proud to have worked building the Alaska Pipeline.

He was a great musician and loved to play music.  He also was a magician and loved entertaining family and friends with magic tricks.

He was a great husband, father, and brother.

He is survived by wife of 32 years, Mary J. (Bolton) Short of Mooresville, one daughter, Janice Russell of Tennessee, a son, Scott (Stacy) Griffith of Mooresville, three granddaughters, Emily and Breanna, and Natalie, and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his two daughters, Gloria and Pam, and two brothers, Billy Carl and Doyle Short, and a grandson,  Ezra Ostrawski.

Funeral service will be held at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 7, 2020, with Celebrant Darin R. Crum officiating. Burial will follow at Chambersville Cemetery in Spencer, with military rites by Monroe County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11 am until the time of service.
