George M. Butz, 83, of Newberry, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Greene County General Hospital.
Born October 15, 1937 in Bloomfield, he was the son of Roscoe Emerson and Evangeline (Bridges) Butz.
George retired from NSWC Crane and was a veteran who served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Newberry United Methodist Church, Bloomfield American Legion Post #196, Association of Federal Retired Employees and the Air Force Association.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Carolyn Sue (Malone) Butz whom he married April 14, 1962; one son, Tony Butz (Pamela) of Bloomington; his grandchildren, Michelle Garvin (John Martin) and Tony Pulliam (Jennifer) both of Bloomington and Troy Pulliam (Michelle) of Alexandria, Virginia; nine great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild; one niece, Debbie Smith and a nephew, Ronnie Hasler.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Hasler and Clara Foddrill and his parents.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Robert Bruner officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Chapel Cemetery in rural Lyons.
Public visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Due to State mandate, there will be a limit of 25 people allowed in the building at any one time and social distancing must be observed.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Newberry United Methodist Church.
