Cynthia Richards

Cynthia Richards, 89, of Spencer passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Owen Valley Health Campus. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 15, 1931 to Marion and Lorraine (Greene) Money.  

Cynthia grew up in Spencer and enjoyed school, the Presbyterian Church and her many friends that she maintained friendship with over her lifetime.  In addition, she spent time working at her father’s Moss and Money Drug Store in Spencer.  After graduating from Spencer High School, she attended Stephens College, then studied Pharmacy at Purdue University and the University of Illinois – Chicago.  It was at Purdue University where she met her future husband, Floyd Richards and they were married, moved to Chicago suburbs and started a family.  

While raising a family, Cynthia developed a passion for art.  She started doing small art shows in the Chicago area and later expanded to art galleries in several cities across the United States.  Her favorite was floral art although she was known to also paint landscapes.  She enjoyed joining various art guilds and teaching art, developing friendships that she cherished throughout her life.  

Cynthia is survived by her son, Andrew Richards (Darlene) of Howey in the Hills, Florida; daughter, Katie Richards of Tamarac, Florida; sister, Shirley Wilson (Tad) of Spencer, Indiana; and granddaughter, Jennifer Richards of Saint Charles, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 66 years Floyd Richards, and brother Jack (Althea) Money.

She was a member of the Spencer Presbyterian Church and Owen County Art Guild.

There will be no services at this time. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
