Connie Jewell

Connie Sueann (Barnard) Jewell, age 74, of Linton, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 surrounded by her children and grandchildren. From her birth on March 28, 1946 to her death, she enriched the lives of the people around her with her love, spirituality and giving nature.

Connie grew up in south Linton, the youngest daughter of Raymond Thomas and Conza Maude (McCammon) Barnard.

Connie graduated with honors in 1964 from Linton Stockton High School. She was a caregiver to her parents while raising her four children and provided childcare to many local families for many years. In 1989, Connie’s love of children and teaching led her to a career as Head Teacher at Head Start in Linton. She obtained her education degree from Indiana State University in December 1994 and continued her career at Head Start until her retirement in 2007. In 1993, Connie was awarded the Child Development Association Credential in recognition of outstanding work with young children from Early Childhood Professional Recognition.

Connie will be remembered for her compassion, spirituality and nurturing nature – ever the teacher encouraging others to show love and kindness to all.

Family left honor Connie and remember her love include: her four children, Tammy (Marty) Corbin of Merna, IL, Missy Jewell of Linton, Todd (Emily) Jewell of Pleasantville and Danial (Derek) Jewell of Terre Haute; eight grandchildren, Doug (Kristina) Corbin, Chris (Amneris) Corbin, Megan (Brian) Bartels, Allison Corbin, Danae Vest, Jaxson Vest, Addison Jewell, and Seth Jewell; four great-grandchildren, Landyn Corbin, Amelia Corbin, Ellie Corbin and Oliver Corbin.

Connie was preceded in death by: her parents; one sister, Mary Helen Massey; four brothers, Bud Barnard, Joe Barnard, Bill Roberts and Bob Roberts.

There will be no public viewing or services at this time. A Celebration of Life is planned at a later date.
