Beverly June (Speas) Summerlot, 80, of Spencer passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospice House. She was born in Arney, Indiana on October 12, 1940 to Claude and Sylvia Irene (Fiscus) Speas.
Beverly graduated from Coal City High School in 1958. She married the love of her life George Summerlot on July 2, 1966. Beverly was a homemaker in her early years and retired from Cook Urological in Spencer after 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Spencer. Beverly was a fantastic seamstress; she was always making clothing for her children when they were younger. She loved cats, enjoyed mushroom hunting and always loved spending time with her family.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Carmen Summerlot of Terre Haute; son, Greg Summerlot of Spencer; sister, Lois Ohler of Spencer; two grandchildren, Megan Devore and Jeremy Devore; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Summerlot, brother Richard Speas and sister Barbara Speas Clark.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Breeden officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Bethel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-8 PM and on Thursday at 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Freedom Nazarene Church or the Owen County Humane Society.
