Greene County Wellness Fair to offer free health screenings, wellness resources Nov. 9th

The public is invited to access free health services and explore wellness resources at the Greene County Wellness Fair on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greene County Health Shakamak Clinic located at 326 E. Main Street in Jasonville.

Attendees ages 18 and up can participate in free on-site health services that include blood pressure screenings, body mass index readings, cholesterol screenings, diabetes risk assessments, blood glucose screenings, hearing screenings, cognitive screenings, teeth and gum screenings, oral cancer screenings, balance, gait, and foot screenings, mental health screenings, social work solutions, nutrition education, Narcan kits, and overdose prevention training.

As a bonus, 25 participants will be randomly selected for $5 gift cards after screenings and completing a brief survey.

On-site wellness resources will include Greene County Health Inc., Catholic Charities, Pepsi, State Health Insurance Program, Shakamak Pharmacy, Shakamak Rehab Inc., Generations, Middle Way House, Inc., ViaQuest Hospice, MDWise Medicaid, Sullivan County Community Hospital, CareSource, PACE, Glenburn Senior Living, Greene County Veterans Office, Creative Arts for Vets (CAV), Anthem, Inc., Indiana Department of Corrections – Parole Liaisons, United Way of South Central Indiana, First Steps West Central, Humble Grace, and God’s Safe Haven.

Versiti Blood Center of Indiana will host a mobile blood drive. Those planning to participate should register in advance and are required to bring a photo ID. Donors are asked to make sure to eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water before their appointment. To register, visit go.iu.edu/8r1b.

Free childcare will be offered on-site by Little Lakers Daycare.

The event is offered in partnership by the IU Center for Rural Engagement, Greene County Health, IU Interprofessional Practice and Education Center, IU School of Dentistry, IU School of Social Work, IU School of Nursing, IU School of Public Health, IU School of Health and Human Services, and the IU College of Arts and Sciences Department of Biology and Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences.
