Ruthie Jean Chesnut-Longest 67, of Bloomfield, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born July 5, 1954 in Linton, she was the daughter of Clovis Barge and Imogene (Crane) Loehr.
Ruthie retired from Purdue University as a nutrition educator. She was a member of the Do Better Club in Newberry, the M & M Club in Lyons and the Progressive Club in Newberry.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Ray Longest of Bloomfield; one son, Jason Chesnut of Lyons; two grandchildren, Bailee Chesnut and Micah Chesnut ; her mother, Ruth Loehr; and her adopted son, Bryan Cox.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 0222 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Lyons, with Chris Gehring officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Chapel cemetery in rural Lyons.
Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and 1 hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Lyons Food Bank.
