Melissa Jane (Summers) Thomas, 70, of Freedom, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at the I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Melissa was born in Greencastle on May 18, 1949, to Lewis Fredrick Summers and Irma Lucille (Elmore) Summers. Melissa graduated from Emminence High School and retired from Endeavor Communications in Cloverdale. Melissa loved the Lord and attended Pleasant Hill Community Church.
Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Larry D. Thomas, children, Ryan and wife Elizabeth Apo, Renee and husband John Denmark, grandchildren, Kaila Apo, Ariel Morgan, Isabele Apo, Jacob Apo, Cora Jane Apo, Chloe Osmon, Jack Osmon, Leah Osmon, great-grandchildren, Kalani Apo, Brenick Morgan, Kahliel Flowers, siblings, Steve Summers, Kathy and husband Russ Fleehearty, Aleta Schaus, Tim Summers, Shannon and wife Julie Summers, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents.
Private graveside services will be Tuesday, Aprl 28, 2020 at the Splinter Ridge Cemetery in Owen County.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Pleasant Hill Community Church.
