Marcella Maxine (Chambers) Bixler, age 85, of Spencer passed away peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Bowling Green, Indiana on November 19, 1935 to Jobe and Erma (Rhodes) Chambers.
Marcella graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1954. She married the love of her life Willard Bixler on October 6, 1955 in Spencer, IN. Marcella was a homemaker when her kids were little. She also worked for RCA in Bloomington, Area 10 Agency in Ellettsville, and was a volunteer for the voting booths. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. Marcella loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing bingo, euchre, puzzle books, reading, and going to flea markets and yard sales.
Marcella is survived by her six children, Barbara Johnson (Rodger) of Patricksburg, Helen Acuff (Aaron) of Ellettsville, Nancy Martin (Bill) of Florida, Carolyn Barger (Kenny) of Spencer, Pamela Muse (Michael) of Spencer and Phillip Bixler (Linda) of Patricksburg; fifteen grandchildren Rodger Jr., Toni, Angela, James, Jessica, Claire, Amy, Michael, Kellie, Ricky, Tyson, Jason and Sara; thirty-six great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willard “Ed” Bixler in 2000, two grandsons William Johnson and Charles Thacker, and nine siblings.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 16, 2021 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Irvin officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM and on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
