Jesse Engle

Jesse Lloyd (Bud) Engle entered eternity Thursday evening August 12, 2021 from the ICU at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born November 23, 1937, the youngest of four, to Audie L. and Ethel E. Chastain Engle. Bud graduated class of 1956 from Sullivan High School. Post secondary education was accomplished by careful observation of the world around him. He pursued several different vocations during his life including foundry work, cable TV system installation/repair, power plant maintenance, & warehouse supervisor. But he may have been best suited for tending bar, due to the interaction with a large and varied assortment of clientele. Bud had a lifelong affinity for racing. Many of his younger days were spent at the track (or a nice straight piece of pavement on the edge of the county), however lately car shows and shows about cars served him well. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by older brother Richard E. Engle who perished in the European theater of WW2; sister Betty Poole of Florida who lost her battle with cancer in 1986; son Brandon (Randy) Engle of TN; daughter Jessica McBride of Linton. Survivors include his loving wife Paula Abel-Engle of Cass; beloved sister Doris (Tootie) Lewis of FL; sons Rick (Sharon) Engle of OH; Paul Engle of TN; Vanessa Schroeder of VA; step-sons Larry Reagan of Spencer; Brandon Reagan of KY; grandchildren Christopher (Syra) Engle of MN; Carrie Webster of Linton; and Amanda (Travis) Bonnell of VA;  Shelby Reagan of Paxton, IN., Emily and Ellie Reagan of Spencer; seven great-grands; four great-greats; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends galore. Visitation will be held at Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger, Indiana Wednesday  August 18, 2021 form 6pm-8pm and Thursday  August 19, 2021 12pm-2pm with service at 2pm.with Bro. Steve Talpas officiatuing. Internment following at Center Ridge Cemetery, Sullivan. The family deeply appreciates the wonderful care he received at Sullivan County and Union hospitals.
