Harold Wayne ‘Shag’ Manuel, 90, of Dugger, Indiana, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. He was born on February 5, 1932 in Carlisle, Indiana to William McKinley and Pansy (Critchfield) Manuel. Shag married the love of his life Patricia Louise ‘Patty’ (Cliver) Manuel on September 7, 1950.
Shag was a coal miner and member of the UMWA. He retired with over 37 years of service.
Family left to cherish the memory of Shag include: two sons, Wayne Allen (Barbara) Manuel of Jasonville and Rick Manuel of Sullivan; daughter, Freida (Benji) Boyd of Dugger; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Richard) Duchene, Zach (Audrey) Manuel, Schuyler (Laura) Manuel, Ben (Brandy) Boyd, Brock (Holly) Boyd, Brody (Jessica) Boyd and Brant Boyd; twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Shag was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Patty Manuel; daughter-in-law, Jackie Manuel; brothers, Chuck, Earl and Jake Manuel; sisters, Peggy Booth, Mary Blevens and Joan Smith.
Funeral services to honor the life of Shag will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton. Shag will be laid to rest in Dugger Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 29 at the funeral home.
