Harold Padgett, age 92, of Switz City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2020, at home surrounded by family. He was born in Bedford, IN on November 26, 1927, the son of Arnold Lewis Padgett & Oma (Bex) Padgett.
He was a graduate of Williams High School in Williams, IN. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He began working at PSI Energy, as a well respected foreman, building substations all around Indiana. He enjoyed being the family handyman because that meant he could spend extra time with his family.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Irene (Sowders) Padgett of Switz City; son, Terry Padgett of Richmond; son-in-law, Randy Sperling of Switz City; grandchildren, April Griffith, Bill (Cassie) Griffith, Amber (Jeff) Frye and Erica (Jeff) Lane; great grandchildren, Shainia Richardson, Makayla Griffith, Morgan Frye, Sarah ( Johnny) Tiefel and Hayley Lane; sister-in-law, Emily Padgett and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lana Sperling and brothers, Virgil Padgett and Arnold Leroy Padgett.
Due to current Indiana guidelines and the family’s request, please wear a mask as you enter the funeral home for services.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, with Pastor Craig Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
