Edmond Ray Jr

Edmond Vincent Ray Jr., 89, of Bedford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospice House.He was born in Newark, New Jersey on September 17, 1931 to Edmond Sr. and Concetta (Terzo) Ray.

Ed married Shirley Cowden and they shared raising a blended family of four children. He received a BS in Industrial Engineering from NJIT and a MS in Industrial Engineering from NYU. Ed held an Indiana Professional Engineering license for 23 years. Ed started his career working for Otis Elevator in Yonkers, NY and Bloomington, IN. He retired as head of the Industrial Engineering Dept for Alcan in their Terre Haute facility.

Ed is survived by three children, Adrienne (Edward) Raymond of Shrewsbury, Vermont, Beth (Ritchie) Smith of Spencer, Indiana, and Barbara (Clay) Brown of Maplewood, New Jersey; sister, Debbie (Joe) Fox of FL and brother, Frank (Peg) Ray of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren, Ben (Rachel) Raymond, Nate (Darcy) Raymond, Sam (Kate) Raymond, Brooklyn (David) Navarre, Hans (Nicole) Brown, Bill (Sarah) Bayne, and Will Brown; great grandchildren, Mac Raymond, Connor and Caitlyn Bayne; and many cousins, nephews and nieces; and first wife, Liesel Bedesem.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley Ray, and daughter Pam Bayne.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Chambersville Cemetery.
