Delbert Flynn

Delbert D. Flynn, age 85, of Worthington, went to be with the Lord at his residence on Sunday, December 27, 2020.  He was born to Hugh A. and Trula (Sheets) Flynn on November 28, 1935, in a farmhouse a mile away from the current family farm.  Delbert lived a life of faith, devoted to his family and working as a farmer.

Delbert is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Phyllis (Blanton) Flynn, a son, Wally Flynn and his wife, Leann of Worthington, a daughter, Kelly Gehring and her husband, Chris of Lyons, grandson, Josh Flynn and his wife, Sheila of Plainfield, granddaughters, Jennifer Flynn of Terre Haute, Amanda “Mandie” Gehring of Los Alamos, NM, and Alison Burbrink and her husband, Joshua of Loveland, OH, great-grandchildren, Bella, JJ, and Lucy Flynn, and William and Matthew Burbrink, a sister, Marcella Blanton and her husband, Junior of Worthington, sister-in-law, Patty Flynn Nappo of Pittsboro, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, a brother, John “Bud” Flynn, sister, Joyce Burgess and her husband, Vernon, sister-in-law, Reba Maners, and his niece, Jackie Dellinger.

Delbert was a member of Lincoln Christian Church where he served as an Elder and Sunday School Teacher for many years.  He also served on various area boards.

A private family service was conducted at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Saturday, January 9, 2021, with Cliff Gano officiating.  Burial followed at Walker Cemetery, with Jack Tolbert officiating.

To honor Delbert’s life, memorial contributions may be given to Lincoln Christian Church, through the funeral home.
