A detective with the Linton Police Department reported to the Greene County Jail yesterday afternoon to begin serving a jail sentence following a plea agreement entered in a Greene County Court.
Court records show that Detective Logan Elliott Hobbs recently entered a plea to a misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The plea and sentence were accepted by Judge Erik Allen, and Hobbs was represented in court by Attorney Edward Linneweber.
Under the terms of the agreement, Hobbs was sentenced to 60 days, with 54 days suspended, resulting in effectively a six-day sentence. Court and jail records further reflect that Hobbs received credit for time already served and is eligible for statutory good-time credit, which reduces the executed portion of the sentence to three actual days.
Jail booking records show Hobbs voluntarily reported to the Greene County Jail at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and was booked as “sentenced.” He is currently housed in isolation, a standard intake practice for many inmates during the initial classification period prior to placement in the general population; however, according to jail records, Hobbs is scheduled for release tomorrow on February 7, 2026. So, it is unlikely he will be moved to general jail population.
The case, filed under Cause Number 28D01-2601-CM-000001, stemmed from a late-December 2025 incident investigated by the Indiana State Police. Publicly-filed probable cause documents indicate the incident involved a Linton Police Department vehicle. Hobbs’ future employment status with the department remains unclear.
