Heads up, drivers—road work is on the way.

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced chip seal operations for several key highways running through Vigo, Clay, Owen, and Greene Counties, including stretches of State Road 63, State Road 157, and State Road 46.

Crews are scheduled to begin work on or after Monday, June 23, starting with S.R. 63, then moving to S.R. 157, and finally wrapping up with S.R. 46. The map provided by INDOT shows targeted segments running through communities like Riley, Clay City, and Worthington.

Drivers are encouraged to use extra caution in work zones and consider alternate routes during the preservation work. As with all road projects, timelines are weather-dependent and subject to change.

Chip sealing is used as a cost-effective road maintenance method that helps extend pavement life, but it can cause short-term delays or lane restrictions.

So, be sure to stay alert and drive safely!
