Greene County is currently experiencing dangerously high temperatures. Prolonged exposure to extreme heat can lead to serious health risks, especially for children, seniors, and those with chronic conditions. Please take the following precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones:
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
- Limit Outdoor Activities: Avoid strenuous activity during peak heat hours (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.).
- Use Air Conditioning: If you don’t have access to AC, visit a designated cooling center.
- Never Leave Children or Pets in Vehicles: Even for a minute.
- Check on Neighbors: Especially the elderly, those living alone, or anyone without air conditioning.
- Watch for heat illness: Symptoms like dizziness, nausea, rapid heartbeat, or confusion could signal heat exhaustion or heat stroke. In severe cases, call 911 immediately.
