William Grimes Found Guilty in the Murder of Lowell Badger

Earlier today, a Sullivan County jury found William Grimes guilty of the 2012 murder of 85-year-old Lowell Badger, of rural Sullivan County. This conviction results from an extensive investigation conducted by Indiana State Police Detectives BJ Patterson, Brad Miller, Nick Hatfield and Joann Dowell, a retired FBI Special Agent, whose persistence and dedication were crucial in solving this case. The detectives worked tirelessly with the Sullivan County Prosecutor’s Office and Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department to gather evidence and build a solid case.

The Sullivan County Prosecutor, Ann Mischler, and Special Prosecuting Attorneys Rob Roberts (lead), Dave Powell, and Courtney Lawrence, played a vital role in presenting a strong case that led to Grimes’s conviction. Their thorough examination of the facts, effective coordination with law enforcement, and commitment to justice were instrumental in securing this guilty verdict.

The Indiana State Police would like to extend its gratitude to all law enforcement agencies and personnel involved in this investigation, whose hard work and collaboration were key to bringing the case to a successful conclusion.
