Niland “Dean” Raper, 84, of Lyons passed away Sunday July 25, 2021 at his residence.
Born February 22, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of Bernard and Geneva (Neidigh) Raper, he was raised by his beloved grandparents Edna and Don Neidigh.
Dean was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Ralph Rogers; he was a member of the Lyons American Legion and the Masonic Lodge.
Surviving relatives include his children, Jackie Vehslage(Jon), Michael Raper and Kyle Raper; he has eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one sister Sammy Sheffler.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, one brother Gary Christy, sister Judy Stafford and a grandson Adam Hasler.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday and 10 A.M. Thursday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Lyons.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Lyons. Burial will follow at Dog Island Cemetery in Lyons.
