Michael Cunningham

Michael Ray Cunningham 71 of Linton, IN left his tired and worn body here on Earth Friday, Jan 28, 2022, to live in eternity with our Lord. Mike’s adoring children were with him in his final moments. 

Mike was one of 9 children born to James and Vinona (Anderson) Cunningham. As a teenager he began working at Milwaukee Railroad and remained there through many ownership changes, retiring after 38 years of service.  Mike was a devoted family man and worked hard to provide everything he could for those he loved.  He enjoyed working in his garage and could fix anything.  Mike was an avid fisherman and preferred spending time relaxing on the water with his brother Jeff.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, wife and soulmate Kathy (Harden) Cunningham who he married May 2, 1981, brothers James “Bud” Cunningham, Cletus Cunningham and John Cunningham. 

Family left to grieve include daughters Michelle Criss and Laura Cunningham, both of Linton, son Brandon Cunningham of Terre Haute, IN, and special family friend Jason Kopp of Linton.  Sisters Pansy Teed of Michigan, Irma Cox of Linton, Sharon Lawhorn of California and Sara (John) Davenport of Bloomington and brother Jeffrey (Janet) Cunningham of Danville.  Surviving grandchildren are Blake Fowler, Tyler Criss, Zoe Wolfe, Austin Barnett and James Michael and great granddaughter Violet Fowler. He will also be missed by the “Tuesday morning Old Fogey Club” at The Grill.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Meng Family Funeral Home / Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Rev. Dick Smith officiating. Mike will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton next to his wife, Kathy.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the funeral home.

Contributions in Mike’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Pallbearers serving will be, Blake Fowler, Duston Stutzman, Jason Kopp, Jayden Kopp, Jon Resler and Jason Ball.
