Jacky V. Swango

Jacky V. Swango passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Garden Villa in Bloomington, Indiana. Jacky was born March 20, 1935 in Owensburg, Indiana. He was the only son of O. Emery Swango and Catherine Boruff Swango.

Jacky married Vina A. Carter on December 8, 1956, gaining a large and extended family of brothers and sisters in-law, as well as having two children, Jacky P. Swango and Jill Swango Vest.

Jacky worked for Ralph Rogers at local 841 of Operating Engineers retiring after 40 plus years. An extremely honest, hard- working provider of his family, he also loved dogs, gardening, woodworking and missed his calling for being an excellent furniture maker. He loved country and western music and loved to dance for others at the nursing homes. Jacky was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers in-law, one sister in-law, and one son in-law, Andrew Vest.

Left behind to mourn after nearly 64 years of a true love story, his wife, Vina. His children, Jacky (Kathy) Swango and Jill Vest; brother in-law, Fred (Edna) Carter; grandchildren, Jeremi (Sherri) Swango, Samantha Vest, Nikoll Chaney, Ashlee Swango and Anthony (Crystal) Vest; as well as many great grandchildren and a very special girl, Mikayla Mumma, a little angel on Earth, plus lots of nieces and nephews. Many good friends who will remember the wonderful, loving and funny person Jacky was. Special thanks to Ashlee Swango who went the extra mile for her “Paps.” In addition, many loving years were spent by Jeremi (Sherri) Swango and Jacob (Mary) Swango living with Jacky and Vina.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the regular staff members at Garden Villa, especially Deb Hovious for truly caring about Jacky.

A private graveside service will be held at Owensburg cemetery. Jenkins funeral home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
