Charles ‘Jake’ Sheffler

Charles W. ‘Jake’ Sheffler, 81, of Sullivan, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born in Dugger, Indiana on September 23, 1940 to Glenn R. and Lotus (Turpen) Sheffler. Jake married the love of his life, Sammie Sue (Christy) Sheffler on October 27, 1961.

Jake was a US Navy Veteran, Korean War Era. He was of the Jehovah’s Witness faith. Jake was an Electrician at Crane and the UMWA before retiring in 2005. He enjoyed farming, baling hay and his gardening.

Family left to cherish the memory of Jake include: his wife, Sue Sheffler; sons, Kip (Andrea) Sheffler, Mark (Cierra Manuel) Sheffler, both of Dugger, and Chuck (Suzie) Sheffler of Nashville; daughter, Kimberly (Terry) Fogerty of Linton; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Brown of Odon; brothers, Paul (Mary) Sheffler of Lyons, Glenn ‘Butch’ Sheffler of Dugger and Tim (Susan) Sheffler of Farmersburg.

Jake was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Tod W. Sheffler; grandson, Erik Alan Sheffler; great-grandson, Charles Layne; sister, Velda Land; brothers, Norman Sheffler and Jerry Sheffler.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton. Jake will be laid to rest in Dugger Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 23 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, at the funeral home.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Sullivan Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
