Audrey Johnson

Audrey “A.J.” Ellen Johnson, age 84, of Seymour, passed away peacefully with her sons by her side at 10:55 am on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. She was born in Linton on May 11, 1936 the daughter of  Dorrel & Hazel (Cunningham) Johnson.

She was a 1955 graduate of Linton Stockton High School. She began working at General Electric right out of high school and retired as a supervisor after 37 years. After a couple years of retirement she became the co-owner of AJ’s Auto Sales in Linton. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post #7118 where she was a past 7th District President, Treasurer and President and she was also a member of the American Legion Post # 22, Eagle’s lodge in Linton and the Moose Lodge #1434. She loved fishing, reading, crocheting, crosswords, mahjong, spider solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, gardening and bowling where she played in state and local tournaments. She always liked to fix things herself such as remodeling her home and working on her vehicles. 

Audrey is survived by her loving sons, Monty (Missy) Casner of Seymour and Morgan (David) Casner of Stone Mountain, GA; grandchildren, LeeAnna (Jordan) Harris, Daniel Alan Casner and Macy Audriana Casner; great granddaughters, Nichola Renee Harris and Elizabeth Anne Harris; siblings, Cathryn Foster, Don Johnson, Robert Johnson and Jean Cox; several nieces and nephews and her beloved fur baby, Jen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; companion, James E. Walton; grandson, Matthew Richard Casner; siblings Bud Johnson, Joetta Johnson and Viola White; step-mother, Betty Johnson as well as a niece, Rita Bowersock .

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Monday, February 8, 2021. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, February 7, 2021 from 2:00-6:00 pm, and on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 1:00 pm until the time of service.

Due to State Mandate, guests are required to wear a mask at all times in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Schneck Hospice through the funeral home.
