A Bloomfield man was arrested Saturday morning after Greene County deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress near Lyons.
According to a news release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched at approximately 8:28 a.m. on June 14 to a residence on West 500 South.
Upon arrival, deputies, with assistance from the Linton Police Department, secured the exterior of the home while investigating the report. Authorities said deputies observed a male exiting the residence from an upper level.
The suspect was ordered to come down the stairs, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
Authorities identified the suspect as Shawn Toon of Bloomfield.
Toon was arrested on the following preliminary charges:
- Burglary, Level 5 Felony
- Theft, Class A Misdemeanor
- Possession of Marijuana, Class A Misdemeanor
The Linton Police Department assisted at the scene.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
