From the Indiana Audubon Society:
Indiana Audubon will host a four-hour beginner beekeeping workshop Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary, offering an introduction to bees, hive life and how to get started keeping a hive.

The workshop is designed for people who are curious about beekeeping but have not yet started, as well as those interested in learning more about bees and their role in the landscape. No prior experience is required, and it is suitable for adults and older youth.
Topics will include bee life cycles, getting started as a beekeeper, hive construction, placement and care, and honey and beeswax extraction.
The workshop will be led by Bill Cummings, a beekeeper with more than 40 years of experience who maintains hives at Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary. Cummings will guide participants through the basics of beekeeping with an emphasis on observation, responsible hive care, safe practices and the responsibilities that come with keeping bees, with a focus on helping new beekeepers get started.
Advanced registration is required. More information and registration are available at mgbsbeekeeping.eventbrite.com.
For questions about the workshop, email Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary at mgbs@indianaaudubon.org or call 765-205-1255.
