Residents of Greene County: Please be advised that another round of storms is expected to impact our area this week, with increased chances of showers and thunderstorms beginning this evening, Wednesday, June 18th and continuing through Friday, June 20th.
In light of the May 16th tornado, many trees across the county still have broken limbs and hanging debris. These weakened branches can fall suddenly during high winds or heavy rain, posing serious risks to people, pets, and property.
What You Should Do:
- Avoid walking or parking under damaged trees.
- Stay clear of wooded areas during storms.
- Report hazardous limbs or debris near public roads to local authorities.
- Secure outdoor items that could become projectiles in strong winds.
Additionally, here are essential steps Greene County residents should take to stay safe and ready:
Emergency Kit Essentials
- Water: At least one gallon per person per day for 3–7 days.
- Non-perishable food: Enough for each household member (and pets).
- Flashlights & batteries: Avoid candles due to fire risk.
- First aid kit: Include prescription meds and medical supplies.
- Phone chargers & backup power: Battery banks or solar chargers.
Let’s stay safe and look out for one another. For the latest weather alerts, visit the National Weather Service’s Indiana page or tune in to local news and radio stations.
Stay weather-aware, Greene County!
