From the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office:
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal incident that occurred at the address of 2094 W 300 N Washington, Indiana.
On June 7, 2025, at approximately 9:11pm, Daviess County Central Dispatch received a call reporting a male was pinned under a vehicle that fell off the jacks.
Deputies and first responders arrived on scene and located a male pinned beneath a full size Ford F350 truck. A nearby forklift was used to lift the vehicle to remove the victim from underneath it.
The victim was identified as Cooper Schuckman, age 16, from Washington; Cooper’s family has been notified.
Initial investigation shows Cooper and a friend were working on the vehicle. The vehicle was jacked up on two air jacks that were on blocks and one floor jack. As they were attempting to remove a part off the vehicle, the weight shifted and the vehicle fell off the jacks and onto Cooper.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Daviess County Ambulance Service and the Daviess County Coroner’s Office.
