PSA: Hospital offers hands-only CPR classes

Did you know that you could save the life of someone during a cardiac arrest situation?

You can learn the steps for hands-only CPR during one of two free classes offered at Greene County General Hospital on April 27. 

The hands-only CPR classes will be offered at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the Violet Newton Conference Room. The class is offered at no cost to participants; however, pre-registration by April 19 is required. To register, please call Halea Franklin at 812-699-4153.

“Hands-only CPR is a life-saving skill that can be learned with a few minutes of instruction and practice. The skills you learn, in less time than it takes to do a load of laundry, may save a life and the life you save may be someone you love,” said Julie Collins, Director of Inservice Education at Greene County General Hospital.

According to the American Heart Association, sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in the United States. Nearly 400,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur every year.
