Welfare fraud has become all too common across the country, which is why Senate Republicans have been hard at work dismantling waste, fraud and abuse within Indiana’s Medicaid and SNAP programs to ensure they are available for only the neediest Hoosiers.
In 2025, I supported legislation that began this reform by requiring more thorough and routine Medicaid eligibility checks.
Building on that momentum, this year I supported Senate Enrolled Act 1, which prohibits anyone who cannot verify they are legally residing in the United States from receiving state government assistance. SEA 1 also put Indiana’s ban on purchasing junk food with SNAP dollars into law, returning the program to its intended purpose of providing nutritional food for needy families.
Hoosiers work hard each day to earn their paychecks, so ensuring our state operates with integrity, efficiency and transparency is and will remain a top priority for me as your state senator.
