Linton Music Fest awards first scholarship

The Linton Community Development Corporation (LCDC), the non-profit manager and operator of the Linton Music Festival, is proud to announce Josh Sullivan as its 2011 Linton Music Festival Scholarship winner. Josh is a 2008 graduate of Linton-Stockton School, who is now studying at Vincennes University, majoring in Business Administration. Over the past several years, he has worked tirelessly behind the scenes during the festival, running a variety of errands and performing various tasks, ensuring the event runs smoothly. Festival organizers noted that he always executes what is asked of him perfectly, and, best of all, with a positive attitude.
The Linton Music Festival Scholarship is a post-secondary scholarship competition, which is open to everyone in all areas of study, whether a degree or certificate program, undergraduate or graduate studies, etc. A one-time prize in the amount of five-hundred dollars ($500) will be awarded to one deserving individual, who may use the award towards: tuition, room and board, school supplies, or other normal and usual expenses relating to post-secondary education. The Indianapolis school’s namesake was actually a native of the Linton area! BBQ & Bluegrass at the park
This weekend I dropped in on the BBQ Cook-Off at Humphreys Park and encountered some joyous sounds from a small group of local musicians. I captured some video of this rare moment for your enjoyment. (See the second video after the jump)
As for the contest, five dedicated contestants battled it out to identify the best BBQ in town. Samples were available for the public to enjoy. Approximately 30 BBQ enthusiasts turned out to cast their vote.
