Downtown A-Frame Readies for New Business

Downtown A-Frame

By Brux B.

Downtown Linton has been getting a lot of improvements lately and the former Conklin’s Auto Sales next to Jim Carey’s Grill is one of the newest buildings to be added to the list. The property was recently purchased from the Conklin family by Larry H. Bosell of Bloomfield. He is CEO of the Ten70 Group which specializes in construction and destruction. “Ten70″ refers to the code used to send fire trucks in over emergency channels; Bosell had served several years as Indiana State Fire Marshall in the 1980′s and other various fire related positions across Indiana, South Carolina and Oregon. Patti Jones says farewell to City Hall

A reception was held at City Hall today to celebrate the completion of Patti Jones’ term as Mayor.

Patti took over command of the city after her late husband, Tom Jones, passed away unexpectedly in early March. We at The Lintonian are proud of Patti and what she has accomplished in such a short period of time.

Best of luck to Patti in her future endeavors. We know that she will continue to support Linton for years to come!

New Resturaunt in Linton: Daily Dish

Menu inside the Daily Dish

On the tail of Jared’s post about Legends closing, I had to bring more food news.  For those of you that don’t know yet, there’s a “new” eatery downtown.  The Double Dog Trish’s Dishes The Daily Dish is located on East Vincennes street.  Catering mainly to the breakfast and lunch crowd, The Dish serves a nice assortment of sandwiches, salads, and miscellaneous food.  If you get there early enough, you can even enjoy a bowl of soupe du jour. Downtown Revitalization Walkthrough #1

Downtown Linton snuffs out flame at local BBQ joint

The smoke will no longer be rolling through the streets of Downtown Linton. According to a statement on their Official Facebook page, Legends Smokehouse will soon be closing its doors.

The restaurant, located at 12 North Main Street in Linton, opened its doors in August of this year and provided a new, finger lickin’ alternative to local foodies in their slow-smoked barbecue and homemade sauces.

A wall post from owners, Odus and Ronda Ball, claims that they have been “struggling to make it over the past few months.”

We are saddened to see another promising establishment disappear. Linton has already lost three other eateries (The Double Dog, 2010, American Pie Pizzeria, 2011 and Trish’s, 2011) within the past few years. Here’s hoping that another brave soul will find success in the Linton dining scene.

Read a statement from Odus and Ronda Ball after the jump. Continue reading
