The Miners and Commodores Meet Again
The Miners and Commodores meet again.
It has been a few years since their last meeting, which was for the title in 2007. I’m sure it’s a game that has stuck in Coach Spencer and the PC fans crawl as Linton cruised to a 35-0 lead through 3 quarters to win 35-14. The Miners recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff, then blocked a punt to jump up 14-0 early in that game. A game that saw Bo Gibson chew up 187 rush yards in his last high school game, but also had Ethan Brewer and Mickey Tosti break 100 each for the Miners as well. That all seems so long ago and the first of Linton’s 3 year run as sectional 40 champions. The faces come and go, the numbers change, but the uniforms and helmets are the same. The reputations unchanged, the winning ways a staple for each school, as well as the community support they each revel in.
